A recent survey to the place has given a new height to themountain, it is now 14,690 feet as it is said that the mountains heighthas changed. It acquired it unique pyramid shape due to erosion overthe last million years.A lot of mountaineers love to go hiking up the mountain. The firstascent, however, was not very successful. History tells that climbingthe mountain has not been very good for climbers and the worst one waswhen 500 people died in 1865 while climbing the mountain. During yourvisit to the Matterhorn , you can visit the place through the rail andcable car, that would make the entire place more accessible.
