Abu Simble are two huge rock temples in south Egypt about 290 kmsouth west of Aswan. This is an archeological site and now registeredas a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They are also called the NubianMonuments. The history of these temples takes us back to the 13thcentury when they were carved out of a mountain side. The entiremonument was relocated in 1960 on an artificial hill. The reason the monuments were shifted because they were graduallydrowning in the Lake Nasser. This lake was a huge artificial reservoirthat was made by the river Nile and Aswan Dam. The Abu Simbel attractsa lot of tourists every year as it is the top most visited spot inEgypt. The temple almost took 2o years to complete. The temple is a dedication to three different gods, namely the Ra-horakhty, Ptah and Rameses. The Abu Simble is considered one ofthe most beautiful and the sacred temple in the entire Egypt. Each andevery statue in the temple is throne and is wearing double crown ofboth the Upper and the Lower Egypt.
